Weighted Voting and Contest FAQ
What is weighted voting?
Weighted voting enables you to create a topic where upvote power of the community members depends on their token holdings. You can weight a topic using ERC20 (that is on the same chain as your community) when you create a new topic. You can also weight a topic using Common’s community stake which enables members to buy stakes in their community using a non transferable token.

What is ERC20 weighted Voting?
When you create a topic on supported chains, you can decide to weight the topic using an ERC20. Upvotes on weighted topics are dependent on the number of ERC20 tokens held by the member and the weight for each token set by the admin who created the topic. For example, an admin can weight a topic using SushiSwap on Base and set the weight to be 1 token = 2 votes. The vote weight for a member who holds 10 SushiSwap on Base who joins the topic would then be 20. Each upvote action will count for 20 upvotes.

Yes the admin can set a decimal vote weight multiplier. This is useful in cases where you expect the token holders to hold larger amounts of the token that you are utilizing for weighted voting
Can the weights for a topic be edited?
No, currently the weights for a topic cannot be edited once its set. You can delete the topic and create a new one with desired weights if needed
